We first discovered it in bars and restaurants across Russia, Europe, and Central Asia — smoky, salty, hand-braided cheese made to peel apart, share with friends, and pair perfectly with a cold beer.

When we came back to the U.S., we had one problem: we couldn’t find it anywhere.

So in 2013, we decided to make it ourselves. Today, Chechil is crafted in small batches in Upstate New York and shared with snack lovers, bars, retailers, and specialty stores across the country.

Upon opening the package you immediately notice the wonderful smokey aroma, then you unravel the braid and allow it to dry out a bit. Then string it out as much as you want!
